Looking to finance a Laptop. [bluehippo] [credit scores]
Looking to finance a laptop NOT BY BLUE HIPPO — With my credit scores, I use a reasonably by someone .
Suggestions?
Thanks
Best Answer: Unfortunately you either pay it all upfront or you charge it to a credit card and pay the balance off when you get the bill, but you can't finance without a bank account.
Reply:Last Oct I had scores about the same as yours. I applied for a Dell laptop and got $1500 instantly.
Reply:Dell would be tough.. go with Ebay or Craigslist
Reply:QUOTEBut with your scores that is doubtful… maybe you can get approved for DELL
I doubt I would get approved for Dell… I will wait a couple more months and see where my scores are at that time and see what I can do…
I just wanted to know of anybody ever financed a computer through somebody and how they made out… I will not go through Bluehippo because they are a ripoff
Reply:Best way is a 0% credit card offer or some other no-interest deal.
But with your scores that is doubtful… maybe you can get approved for DELL.
Reply:Anybody ever do this?

Reply:Yeah, computer geek here, er IT analyst… I could build my own, but with the hours I am putting in at work, I dont have the time nor patience!!
I know I sound like I am getting picky- "i dont want this' 'not that' 'i perfer this'… but I want a laptop that is not going to cost me mega bucks… I dont want an ancient machine by the time i am done paying for it!!
Reply:I wouldn't touch a Dell with a ten-foot pole even if the APR was 0%, but that's just me. Once upon a time, I had a Dell. Need I go any further?
Reply:I've got scores in the 580-600 range (fico not the FKO in my sig) and I've still haven't been able to be approved by Dell or any other major manufacturer. I'm a former computer tech, and I built my own. I'ts the most cost effective way if you can do it.
Good luck!
Reply:QUOTEAlso, someone posted a link a while back about an electronics place in Texas that offers credit to just about anyone. Might be worth a shot?
I think they only extended the credit to Louisianna and Texas residents.. I am waiting for a C.S. person to pick up… i will let you know
Reply:Does anybody know what you need to qualify for Dell? Is there anything else out there?
Reply:Thanks guy
Reply: I want to try for BoA but not sure how to go about it… I heard you have to get invited or if you get declined for it, you will get a special offer…

Reply: I have the money but I want to add a TL onto my CR's…
I'd get a secured National City or B of A card then…

Reply:If you can't get financing, round up $500 in cash and visit the Dell outlet. They always have a wide selection of decent laptops under $500.
Reply:By September-October…
Dont want to do a Rentway…
Reply:You could always buy a good used laptop on ebay for around $300 ish (get a great IBM thinkpad). You could also rent (rent to own?) a laptop in the meantime, but I wouldn't do that personally.

BTW do you NEED a laptop now?
Reply:I am sure there is something…
Reply: Not sure if they will do it… I dont want to waste a hard on it…
With the FICO scores in your signature, I think you're probably out of luck.
