Did this recently on its website. Do you have number of applications where necessary and if so, how quickly?

Reply:I believe that Amex will automatically kill any apps for either 30 or 60 days after you have been denied. I had the same idea you did, I applied for a credit product and was denied, so I decided to try a charge product which I figured would be easier and got the same message you posted. They did not pull a hard on me for the second app, which I was grateful for – they could have pulled the report THEN denied me for the recent decline, which would have been worse.
Reply: Did your report change such that you would be approved? If they said no just a few weeks ago, why would they say yes today?
Yes, the last bit of negativity was removed. I'll just wait.

Reply:I had apped for "Blue" a few weeks ago – declined. I wanted to try for the Gold charge as there was a change in my EX report.
They cancelled the app before pulling another hard. I'll wait 90 days.
Reply:If so it is new within the last month. I know someone who got two on the same day in February. It sounds more like you somehow put in two apps for the same card. Maybe hit the submit button twice when you were doing the app. You get that message if you apply for a one of their cards and then apply for the same card again before they give you an answer. " Regretfully, we must abide by our original decision, and are unable to open an account on your behalf at this time."
Reply:Sounds like they may have saved you from an unnecessary inquiry. Did they cancel the app before they did another hard pull?
Last year I apped and was approved for two different Amex's on the same day for both me and my spouse.

All I can tell you is some years ago I applied for 3 cards in 3 months (2 in the same month) ALL APPROVED
AMEX today is not what it once was
